Dr. Pernille Ottosen

Dr. Pernille Ottosen

Dr. Pernille Ottosen went to the University of Minnesota medical school and then did family medicine residency at Regions Hospital in St Paul Minnesota. She worked in rural northern Minnesota for 16 years in primary care doing the full spectrum of family medicine including delivering babies, rounding on nursing home residents and taking care of patients in the community hospital and doing shifts the local emergency room. Then she worked in urgent care in Seattle for 4 years and moved to Hawaii a year ago to work at Island Urgent care.

Dr. Ottosen was born in Denmark on a small island called Samso and moved to the states when she was 18 so her Danish vocabulary is limited.

She gets the most enjoyment from the interaction with every individual patient. She enjoys meeting all kinds of people and getting to know them. She says it feels like a privilege to sit with a person she’s never met and hear about their health issues and worries. She believes the medical side of medicine is interesting and she enjoys doing minor office procedures. For example repairing a laceration or removing and ingrown toenail.

She really enjoys living on Oahu on the windward side with my husband and two dogs and on my days off I like just being at home, and walking my dogs or kayaking in Kaneohe Bay.
